The ads are all over the radio again:
“NEW FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS TO HELP YOU GET OUT OF DEBT”
The ONLY “FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS” that will help you get out of debt are called “BANKRUPTCY” and “PROPOSAL” and they can ONLY be admistered by a licensed trustee in bankruptcy.
Some suggestions:
– Don’t get fooled into paying fees to a debt consultant who is only going to refer you to a trustee.
– If you do meet with a debt consultant ask them who the trustee is that they will refer you to and do not pay up front fees.
– Use a local trustee rather than one based out of another City – you will probably get better service and find them easier to meet with.
