Regardless of culture or religion we all celebrate the solstices – winter and summer. The solstices mark the end of an epoch and the beginning of a new one. For that reason, this is a good time of the year to reflect on the things that have worked out well for us and those that could be improved upon.
As you look forward to the new year think about planning your spending around a properly constructed budget. Contemplate prioritizing savings – don’t just hope that there is money left over for savings but plan to have money put into savings before you get to superfluous expenditures such as eating out.
Develop a plan to reduce your unsecured credit, pay down credit cards and lines of credit. Try to add new money to existing mortgages – the cost in the long term is horrendous, even though in the short term the interest rates may be attractive.
