POVERTY AND FOOD BANKS:

September 5, 2017

Poverty although not officially acknowledged by the Canadian government is one of the greatest problems facing our country.  An increasing number of families are living below the governments LICO (Low Income Cut Off) and many working people are lining up at food banks in order to survive.  In the USA the government issues food stamps to poor families, many food stamp recipients are cashing in the stamps at their place of employment, Walmart.

Here in Canada Food Banks are under pressure to deliver services, grossly underfunded and understaffed, they are no longer able to provide needed services and are suggesting that another delivery system needs to be found.   Perhaps government funded and operated supermarkets???
